Four faces to print
Each side of the pyramid is a separate triangle, so you can print a different pattern, colour or message on each.
Customers turn it in their hand, which makes a small box feel like a gift.
Ships flat
A pyramid is one sheet, cut and creased. It arrives flat and folds into shape in a few seconds.
That keeps storage tiny, even for a large run of favours.

What is a pyramid chocolate box?
It is a small box shaped like a pyramid, with a square base and four triangular sides meeting at a point. The whole box is cut from a single sheet of printed card, creased along each edge and folded up by hand.
The two photos show a deep navy pyramid with a soft sheen and a peach pyramid with a printed band, a chocolate resting in front of it. They show the shape and the effect of colour; your own pyramid will carry your design.
Pyramids are mostly used for one truffle, two or three small chocolates, or a handful of wrapped sweets. They stand out on a table because they look nothing like an ordinary box.
Where do pyramid boxes work best?
They are made for moments where one small chocolate is the whole gift. A pyramid at each place setting, a pyramid on a hotel pillow, a pyramid handed out at a shop opening.
Because they stand up on their own, they also make a good display on a counter. A row of pyramids in different colours looks like a small sculpture.
Chocolate makers also use pyramids as a tasting sample. One piece in a printed pyramid, handed to a shopper with a card about the full range, costs little and is far more memorable than a sample on a cocktail stick.
- Wedding and party favours at each place
- Single truffle gifts at the till
- Hotel and restaurant turndown chocolates
- Corporate event giveaways with a logo
- Children's party bags with wrapped sweets
How do we size a pyramid box?
The base must be wide enough for the chocolate to sit flat, with a little room around it. The height follows from the base and how steep you want the sides.
A taller, steeper pyramid looks more elegant but leaves less space near the top, so we check the chocolate fits the lower part of the box.
- Measure the chocolate across and from base to top.
- Tell us how many pieces go in.
- Choose a closure at the base or the tip.
- Pick a board and finish.
- Approve the free proof, which shows the flat sheet with all four faces.
Which closure should you choose?
A base closure gives the cleanest point. A tip closure is quicker to fill and lets you thread a ribbon or tag through the top.
| Closure | How it works | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Base closure | Flaps fold under and lock | Boxes filled from the bottom, tip stays clean |
| Tip closure | Four flaps meet at the top | Quick filling, ribbon through the tip |
| Tip with a slot | Two flaps lock through a slot | Favours that must stay shut |
Can each face be printed differently?
Yes. The four triangles are separate panels on the flat sheet, so each one can carry its own colour or message. One face for the logo, one for the name of the couple or event, one for the flavour and one for ingredients is a common split.
All print uses food-safe inks, and the inside can be printed too if you would like a colour surprise when the box opens.
Should the chocolate be wrapped first?
For a single truffle, a small paper cup inside the pyramid keeps it upright and clean. For several pieces, wrap each one in foil or use individually wrapped sweets.
Pyramids do not take an insert in the usual way, so the cup or wrapper is what keeps the chocolate tidy.
If you want the chocolate to stay right at the bottom of the pyramid, a small square of card cut to the base size can sit underneath the cup. It stops the cup sliding about when the box is carried.
Which board and finish suit a pyramid?
A mid-weight printed card holds the sharp edges of a pyramid best. Coloured board in a deep shade, like the navy in the photo, needs only a little print on top. Kraft looks natural and suits rustic weddings.
Soft touch gives a velvety feel when the pyramid is picked up. Foil on the logo or on one edge catches the light nicely on a dinner table.
Very thick board is not a good idea for small pyramids. The folds become rounded and the point loses its crispness, so we choose a board weight that suits the size you ask for.
How quickly can pyramids be folded?
After a few practice boxes, most people fold a pyramid in well under half a minute. The creases are pre-scored, so the edges fold cleanly and the flaps line up without glue.
For a wedding or event order, it is worth folding them a day ahead and storing them in a box so the points stay sharp.
If you would rather not fold them yourself on the day, ask a helper to do a test batch first. Folding the first ten slowly is the best way to learn where each flap goes.
What are the common pyramid box mistakes?
Choosing a base too narrow for the chocolate is the first; the piece then tilts on the sloping sides. The second is printing text across the edges, where it bends out of sight. The third is a tip closure on favours that will be handled a lot, which can open; a slot lock is safer.
We flag each of these on the proof if we spot them.
How long do pyramid boxes take?
Pyramids are made in 4 to 6 working days after you sign off the proof. Delivery to UK mainland addresses is tracked, free and takes 2 to 3 working days.
They arrive flat and stacked, so even a big run fits on a shelf.
