Start from one chocolate
Measure a single piece across the widest point and from base to top. Those two numbers, plus the count, are enough for us to draw the box.
If your range has two shapes, send both and we will size the cavities for the larger one.
Print that suits the counter
Most shops print the lid in full colour and keep the base plain. A one-colour logo on a coloured board can look just as smart and keeps the artwork simple.
Foil on the logo catches the light on a shop shelf without needing a second colour.
Design Your Chocolate Box
Drop your logo on a real photo of our custom printed chocolate boxes, move it and size it, and send it. A designer sets it up to scale and sends a free proof.

Your logo sits on a real photo of our box. A designer redraws it to scale on the box artwork and sends a free proof before anything is printed.
What are custom printed chocolate boxes?
They are boxes made for your chocolates rather than picked from a catalogue size. We take the number of pieces, the size of one piece and the style of opening, then draw a box, an insert and a lid that fit together.
The outside carries your logo, colours and any wording you choose. The photos on this page are sample designs, so expect your box to look like your brand, not ours.
Chocolatiers order them for a signature assortment. Bakeries use them for truffles sold beside the cakes. Cafes and farm shops box their own bars and bites, and companies send them as thank-you gifts with a logo on the lid. The common thread is a box that fits one product exactly, so nothing rattles and nothing is squashed when the lid goes on.
Because the box is drawn from scratch, you are not stuck with a stock size that leaves a gap at one end or forces a smaller piece count than you planned.
If you are still choosing a style, our page of typical chocolate box sizes by piece count is a useful starting point.
Which box style should you choose?
The style decides how the box opens and how it sits on a shelf. A lift-off lid feels like a gift. A tuck end is quick to pack at a busy counter. A sleeve over a tray lets you show the chocolates as the customer slides it open.
| Style | How it opens | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Lid and base | Lid lifts straight off the base | Assortments, gift boxes, tasting boxes |
| Tuck end | Flap tucks into the front | Two to six pieces at the till |
| Sleeve and tray | Tray slides out of a printed sleeve | Long boxes of five or six pieces |
| Book style | Front cover swings open on a spine | Bon bons and corporate gifts |
| Dispenser carton | Front panel tears open | Wrapped pieces sold loose on a counter |
How do we size the box around your chocolates?
Sizing starts from one piece. We add a little room around each chocolate so it lifts out cleanly, then add the walls of the insert and the box itself.
Depth matters as much as width. A lid that presses on a piped top will mark it, so we leave a few millimetres of air above the tallest piece.
- Send the piece count and the width and height of one chocolate in mm.
- Tell us whether the pieces are round, square or a mix.
- Choose a style of opening, or ask us to suggest one.
- We reply by email within one working day with a price and the box size we propose.
- A free design proof shows the box flat with your artwork before anything is printed.
What can be printed on the box?
Anything you can send as artwork: a logo, a pattern, the flavour list, your web address, an ingredients panel or a short note from the maker. We print in food-safe inks, so the inside of the lid and the tray can carry print as well.
Full colour suits photographs and patterns. A single colour on a coloured board is simpler and often looks more refined on a small box.
- Lid top and sides
- Inside the lid, where a message or flavour key can sit
- Base, for ingredients and allergen text
- Insert or tray, printed or plain
- A separate sleeve or belly band, if you want one design across several box sizes
Matt, gloss, soft touch or foil?
Matt gives a calm, papery look that suits dark brown and cream artwork. Gloss makes colours look deeper and wipes clean on a counter.
Soft touch has a velvety feel in the hand and is popular for gift boxes. Foil on the logo adds a metallic line without changing the rest of the print. Pick one on the quote form, or ask us to show two on the proof.
Card or rigid board?
Printed card folds flat, so a large order takes up little room until you need it. It suits most counters, cafes and online shops.
Rigid board is thicker and is wrapped in printed paper. It does not fold flat, it feels heavier in the hand and it is the choice for boxes that are meant to be kept. Rigid styles are quoted higher and take 8 to 10 working days to make, so mention it early if you have a date in mind.
Which insert holds the chocolates?
A die-cut card insert has a hole or cup for each piece and keeps the whole box in card. A food-safe PET tray is formed to the shape of the chocolate and grips soft or dusted pieces more firmly.
Card dividers make a grid of square cells and suit fudge, larger pieces and mixed shapes. You can see each one on our page about chocolate boxes with inserts.
How do the boxes arrive?
Card boxes arrive flat in tracked cartons, with inserts packed alongside. Most styles fold up in a few seconds with no glue. Rigid boxes arrive made up and nested where the shape allows.
Production takes 4 to 6 working days after you approve the proof, then free tracked UK mainland delivery takes 2 to 3 working days.
What mistakes should you avoid?
Most problems come from a size worked out before the chocolates were finished. Measure the real pieces, not the mould, and allow for decoration on top.
- Sizing to the mould rather than the finished, decorated piece
- Leaving no air above piped or dusted tops
- Putting small text right on a fold line
- Choosing gloss for a lid that will carry handwritten labels
- Ordering rigid boxes a week before an event
How do you order custom printed chocolate boxes?
Use the Price this box panel on this page, the quote form, or WhatsApp. Send the count, the piece size and your logo if you have it. We come back by email within one working day.
Minimums are low and quoted per job, so a small first run for a new range is fine. If a box arrives misprinted or damaged, tell us within 10 days and we reprint it or refund you.

More answers in Help, or WhatsApp us on +44 7578 382054.
Can custom printed chocolate boxes be made for a single chocolate?
Yes. A single large piece can sit in a small tuck box or a lid and base box with a one-cavity insert, sized to that piece.
How much space do you leave around each chocolate in a custom box?
A small margin so the piece lifts out without catching, plus a few millimetres above the tallest point so the lid does not touch the decoration.
Can I print a flavour key inside the lid of my chocolate box?
Yes. The inside of the lid is a good place for a flavour map that matches the layout of the tray, and it shows on your proof.
Can one printed design work across several chocolate box sizes?
Often it can. A printed sleeve or belly band over plain boxes lets one design cover a 4, 9 and 16 piece box.
Which finish hides fingerprints best on a dark chocolate box?
Matt and soft touch show fewer marks than gloss on dark colours. Gloss wipes clean more easily, so it suits boxes handled a lot on a counter.
Can the logo on a custom chocolate box be foiled?
Yes. Foil can be added to the logo or a line of lettering, and the rest of the box is printed as normal.
Do custom printed chocolate boxes come flat?
Card styles arrive flat and fold up by hand. Rigid boxes arrive made up because the board does not fold.
Can you print ingredients and allergen text on the base of the box?
Yes. Send the text and we place it on the base or a side panel, sized so it stays readable.
What if my custom chocolate boxes arrive misprinted?
Tell us within 10 days of delivery with a photo and we reprint them or refund you.
Can I mix printed lids with plain bases?
Yes. Many shops print only the lid and keep the base plain, which keeps the artwork simple.
How long do custom printed chocolate boxes take to make?
4 to 6 working days after you approve the proof for card styles, 8 to 10 for rigid, then 2 to 3 working days for delivery.
Will I see my custom chocolate box before it is printed?
Yes. A free design proof shows the box flat with your artwork, and nothing is printed until you approve it.
